All you need to know about Delivery Shift

 All members have to participate in Delivery Shift (“utleveringsvakt”) some hours during the year. This is how Kooperativet can exist. It’s an easy and fun activity. You get to meet other members and contribute to the community. We look forward seeing you!

Location: Mathallen, Vulkan (ground floor, in the middle of the hall by Torget bar).

Time: 3:30 PM to 7 PM.

🌞 How to Participate in Delivery Shift?

Sign up in advance. Choose a date and sign up via the website. You will receive a confirmation email and a reminder just before your Shift. Sign up here: www.kooperativet.no/vakt/

On the day of Shift, show up at the agreed time and place. There is a Shift manager who will provide the information you need. Tip! Set a reminder in your calendar, so it’s easy to remember when you have your Shift.

💚 Why Participate in Shift?

Oslo Kooperativ is run by the members, and we all contribute by volunteering. We have no paid employees. All members participate in Shift two or more times a year. Your contribution is crucial for the Kooperative to exist. This is how we can offer good vegetables at a good price, for the benefit of you and the other members.

🥦 How does a Shift work?

You help prepare and distribute vegetables to those who have ordered. The Shift lasts from 3.30 PM to 7 PM. There is a Shift manager present who informs about what needs to be done. You are part of a group of 3-5 members, and never alone.

Preparations: We set up tables, and weigh vegetables if needed. The duty manager tells what needs to be done, and we agree on who does what.

Distribution: The most important thing we do is to warmly welcome the members! The Shift manager registers and checks what they have ordered. All members serve themselves and fill their own bags. We assist by telling them which vegetables and how much they should take of each. Sometimes vegetables need to be weighed, and we do this continuously during the distribution. Often, other people come by and ask if they can buy. Then we tell them how great the Kooperativet is, how they can become members and order goods. We have a poster with the website address which is very useful to show them.

Cleanup: When the distribution is over, we help clean up. We put everything back where we got it, sweep the floor, and make sure the place looks good. We are lucky to borrow the location from Mathallen and want to leave it in good condition.

Useful Information

I’m new and have never been on Shift. What do I need to know?

It’s easy to participate, requires no prior knowledge, you don’t need to speak Norwegian or be good with food. We are an international social hub where everyone is welcome. If you are new, you will receive the information you need in advance and during the Shift.

I signed up for Shift but am unable to attend. What should I do?

Notify as early as possible by email: logistikk@kooperativet.no

If there is an acute illness or other issue just before, notify the Shift manager by sending an SMS/calling and email (details are in the email you receive just before Shift).
